Children are the future of a country; protect them, protect the nation

 

“THERE IS NO REASON, NO EXCUSE

CHILD LABOUR IS CHILD ABUSE”

152 million children are a worldwide victim of child labour; 88 million boys and 64 million girls. In India itself, 12.9 a million children are involved in child labour activities among which 72% are engaged in agricultural fields as child labourers and 20% children aged between 15-17 years old are involved in hazardous industrial Jobs. Uttar Pradesh accounts for the biggest hub of child labours. Some of the central and state government schemes for eradicating child labour and uplifting the condition of children involved in this trap from a long time ago are:

A)Factories Act of 1948: The act prohibits the employment of children below the age of 14 years in any factory. The law also played rules on who, when and how long can a pre-adults aged 15-18 years be employed in any factory.

B) Mines Act of 1952: The act prohibits the employment of children below 18 years of age in a mine. Mining being the most dangerous occupation leads to the death of children is totally banned.

C) The child labour (prohibition and regulation) act of 1986: The act prohibits the employment of children below the age of 14 years in the hazardous occupation identified in a list by law. The list was explained in 2006, and than in 2008.

D) The juvenile justice (care and protection) act of 2000: This law made it a crime, punishable with a prison term, for anyone to procure or employ a child in any hazardous condition.

E)The right of children to free and compulsory education act of 2009: The law mandates free and compulsory education to all children aged between 6-14 years. The legislation also mandates that 25% of seats in every private school must be allocated for children from disadvantaged and physically challenged children

F)Bal Shramik Vidya Yojana 2020: The government of Uttar Pradesh decided to give monthly financial assistance of Rs.1000 and 1200 to boys and girls working as child labours respectively. If these children pass classes 8,9 and 10 they will be given an additional amount of Rs.6000 fit clearing each standard.
