By lifting a pack, you put yourself and every other passive smoker to risk. You fail every tree that even in this pollution determines to stand tall and give you clean air to breathe.
Whether you are a teen who succumbed to peer pressure, or a depressed adult, we hope, if you choose to smoke, you do not go beyond your - “try karlete hai” phase.
Lose some of your dead skin cells by scrolling and knowing about lung cancer so that you can save yourself and someone else as well.
Lung Cancer
Causes:
Most of the lung cancer cases are due to smoking. We beg you to give the warning sign on the pack a
thought. A smoker endangers more than one life.
Old habits die hard, but why not create something new under the sun? Introspect and build yourself again
or someone you know, block by block.
● Lung cancer also occurs due to increasing pollution. There is an immediate need to take steps to
curb air pollution.
● It occurs due to genetic mutation as well. It is advisable to get your family medical history
checked and mapped.
● Continued exposure to radon, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, nickel, some petroleum products,
asbestos, and uranium cause lung cancer.
Symptoms:
Lung cancer symptoms do not appear immediately. When they do, they are mistaken for being under the
weather or just a fleeting fatigue. These cause the cancer to reach its later stages, where it becomes severe
and hard to treat.
If you experience any of these symptoms, give a doctor a visit. It is better to consult a doctor than wait for
the worst to happen. Sometimes, lung cancer might not even have a cause.
Just not being a smoker will not get you the green card. Do not let these symptoms go unnoticed.
● A lung cancer patient will have a lingering cough that gets worse day-by-day. There might be
blood or phlegm in the cough.
● The person will experience chest pain. It might be mild in the beginning but then create trouble in
breathing, coughing, and laughing.
● Back pain is rare; some might experience it while others do not. The back pain will also spread
and make sitting and standing up difficult.
● Experiencing shortness of breath, wheezing, and fatigue will become common.
● That person will lose their appetite and hence go on losing weight.
● As the cancer will spread to your lung, you will start feeling nausea, have high blood pressure,
high blood sugar, and seizures.
Types:
Lung cancer is of several kinds depending upon the part of the lung that is affected. A tumor tends to
spread and therefore needs to be detected at the earliest possible stage to curb and cure it.
● If the person’s outer parts of the lungs - the lining of surfaces and cavities are damaged, then it is
non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It is the most common type of cancer that grows fast. This
kind of cancer has four stages, each dependent on the region that has been affected. The cancer
spreads to the other parts of the lung and then to the other organs.
● Small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) is another type of lung cancer. It is more dangerous than NSCLC
and grows at an unprecedented rate. It is even hard to cure. It has only two stages. In the first,
limited stage, only one lung or a lymph node on the same side is affected. In the last,
extensive-stage, it spreads to the other lung and other organs.
Sometimes a person can suffer from both NSCLC and SCLC.
● Mesothelioma occurs due to continued exposure to asbestos .
Stay Safe!
Lung cancer is a deadly devil that takes away hundreds of people every year worldwide. We need to make
efforts to protect us as well as the people around us. Lung cancer cannot be cured using home remedies
and definitely not by quick Google searches.
You can, for sure, take steps like having a balanced healthy diet. If you start losing appetite, then try
having small meals throughout the day. You can make efforts to help your body survive the pain.
If you experience these symptoms or see someone else experiencing them, consult a doctor immediately.
Do not make excuses, like a prolonged cold or weakness due to a busy work schedule. Our small mistakes
and negligence puts us in dangerous and unwanted times. The doctor will guide you to the correct passage
of treatment to follow.
Being aware is the part that you can play apart from taking steps to prevent air pollution and
chain-smoking. Lungs can repair minor damages, but massive and deep scars are hard to treat physically,
mentally, and emotionally.
